Ageing Cigars
When you buy cigars, do you age them for a little while or get right into them. I try to age my cigars for a month, before cracking open the box. Then I go back to them every other week and see how they change.

For me it depends how far/long they've travelled. If domestic I usually try one ROTT and then revisit a couple days or weeks later depending on my first experience. On the other hand for international travel I've learned over the years to give them 30-60 days rest before sampling. 60 days seems to be optimal though I an't always wait that long.

Unfortunately, it's been awhile since I've bought anything by the box.
The stuff that I have in my humidor is six years old at the least. I just recently went to my favorite B&M and got a bunch of singles, and I dug into those pretty quick. Next time that I get a box, it will probably get aged about a month.

The late Steve Herman, "bigguy" as he was known, posted this to alt.smokers.cigars back in 1997:
