USMNT's Weekend.

A well-deserved 1-1 draw against the Argies at Red Bull, with a goal from Juan Agudelo, our next great player.

The 0-1 result against Paraguay wasn't horrible, either. They're a perennial World Cup club, Oscar Cardozo is world-class. Keeper made a quality save on Little Bradley, as well.

I attended the game v. Paraguay with my daughter. The corner they scored on was taken immediately in front of us (we were on the side about halfway between the goal and the top of the 6 yard box). I was very impressed with what I saw from Bradley, Ream, Chandler and Agudelo.

Donovan shows the effects of his layoff over the winter - definitely not sharp yet.

And we will not speak of the Abominable Left-Back...

I thought the Yanks played better against Paraguay then they did against Argentina. They dominated possession and always looked the more likely side to score. Let's face it, we were very lucky to forge a draw with Argentina. VERY LUCKY. Completely dominated in possession, we spent most of the match in our own half. But despite being outclassed at every spot on the pitch (with the exception of goalkeeper), I'm proud of the way the boys fought and scrapped. We may not have the most technically gifted players, but you have to respect the indomitable spirit of the squad.

But I'm growing more confident that the days of the US being technically inferior to the 'world powers' of football will end one day very soon. The young lads I saw in both those matches impressed me tremendously. Chandler is an absolute EPIPHANY. Pace, skill and reads the game as good, perhaps even better, than anyone in the side. Agudelo is a revelation as well - he has the skill to create scoring opportunities on his own around the penalty area which the national side has lacked since the Truman Administration (see Joe Gaetjens). And he's only 18 for chrissakes...

Up the Yanks!!!
