Temporary Cigar Storage

Hey, as you can see I'm new to CW and I am also new to the wonderful world of ciagrs. Right now I'm just in the process of buying singles and trying out what fits my taste the best. I'm not looking to buy a humidor just yet and I was looking for a good way to store them.

I found this link on the net and I just want to know what some you smoking veterans have to say: http://www.mycigarblog.com/blog/archives/000113.html

Like I said I'm new to cigars so I don't have stockpiles yet, usually only l have 5 max at a time so even a tupperdor is still too big. So would this be the best way to store my cigars for a couple months? If not any suggestions?

I went right to a small desktop when I started, but I would think that any small tupperware container would be an economical solution for you.

Seems like it would be ok for your purposes.

The way he reccomends I do not...well the part about the cig tobbacco throws me off...have you ever smelt that crap??? If you used a humidifier of some sorts or even a tube of beads that container would work...pretty much any airtight container will.

Just make sure it will hold the RH, it is clean, there are no smells that the cigars will absorb.

If you decide to store them this way just remember to keep it out of the sunlight. Cigars don't enjoy the sunshine like people do.
Also instead of the cotton in the bottom pick yourself up a Drymistat tube (around 8 or 9 dollars) and when you step up to a humidor you can use the Drymistat in it.

If you're only going to have 5+/- cigars in there at a time, why not buy a Cigar Caddy (Otter travel humidor)? They come in various sizes (5, 10, 15/25 cigars), and they're great. You will want to have one even after you get a regular humidor (or 6).

Also remember that if you use an airtight jar, or any airtight container for that matter, open it every so often to exchange the air.

My advise (being a newbie myself) is get a humidor..... I started with a 75 count humi when my wife brought me to the shop....was looking for something smaller (5 to 10 sticks) but she kept telling me to get a bigger one but I did not listen.....settled for the small one (50 to 75 sticks)..... that was in December... now I have a tupperdoor, and a locker at the local smoke shop....(Sammed...should have gotten the bigger one as she was paying for it).....

You want something like a desk top for daily smokes and something larger to age your smokes......
