Bebo Valdes ...
... was playing at the Village Vanguard last week. I got to see him on Saturday night with Javier Colina on bass.
It was tremendous. Those not familiar with Bebo should make the effort ... a wonderful Cuban jazz pianist... who has influenced many musicians. The Bebo y Cigalia Lágrimas Negras CD is one of my current favorites... the DVD of the show is also worthwhile. One of the encores was The Peanut Vendor... also a favorite. |
