This is the first of five blind reviews we will do.
This cigar was given to us by jojocigars. We have scores from a perfect 50 all the down to a 16. That definitely covers both ends of the spectrum. What was it buddy Cigar: Cigar #190 Member: Maveric. Const:4 Burn:5 Draw:5 Aroma:4 Flavor:8 Taste:7 Overall:8 Total:41 PreSmoke: The brown, mottled-black toothless wrapper has very small veins and a pre-light aroma of cedar. Very nice construction, but the cigar is a little too soft and spongy. A very even burn throughout this 5 1/2 inch cigar.' Smoke: An effortless draw produces volumes of smoke. This cigar has a good, heavy, mouth filling, full bodied taste of sweet cedar, cocoa and espresso. Med to low strength, but very tasty and fairly complex. The cocoa flavors build, then are predominated by cedar.' Summary: I really enjoyed this cigar. Let me go out on a limb here- Is this one of Gael's La Lunas? The cigar coats your mouth and hits the back of your throat the way LaLuna Maduro Fuertes do. I recommend this cigar; I wanted to be critical in my reviews, but I really enjoyed it and plan on buying some.' Cigar: Cigar #190 Member: Jojocigars Const:5 Burn:5 Draw:5 Aroma:5 Flavor:10 Taste:10 Overall:10 Total:50 PreSmoke: Always great' Smoke: Smoke very well for a little cigar' Summary: One of the best cigars I’ve ever smoked. Cigar: Cigar #190 Member: Neophyte Const:3 Burn:4 Draw:2 Aroma:1 Flavor:2 Taste:1 Overall:3 Total:16 PreSmoke: Brown color gave me hope for a rich flavor and good body. There was a slight spicy smell to it. Good wrapper. There were no large veins and a good texture. It was very soft to the pressure of my fingers' Smoke: The first puff had a biting metallic taste that stayed consistent for the first third of the smoke. The other members of the WAC&SG that were present noticed my distress by my facial contortions and named it a dog rocket by my third puff. I would have put it out there but felt compelled to finish judging. The gin helped ease my misery. About two thirds of the way down I got two good mouthfuls of tasty smoke.' Summary: I can't wait to find out what it is to see if there are any of these in my humi. I will send them to some one who likes them. Cigar: Cigar #190 Member:sevenmag Const:4 Burn:4 Draw:5 Aroma:4 Flavor:7 Taste:7 Overall:8 Total:39 PreSmoke:'I had high hopes for this one based on appearance alone. The wrapper was a good-looking slightly mottled brown maduro or maybe sun grown. Not to many veins and no damage after shipping. It was a bit spongy and soft but had no voids or soft spots. The cut went well and the cap was decent. ' Smoke:'It started out good, lots of straightforward tobacco flavor with just a bit of sweetness and plenty of spice. I like that combo, I kept waiting on some more flavors to come around but they never did. It stayed very consistent until the last third when it got bitter and metallic. I nursed it along for a little while but it wouldn't come back around. I had to relight a couple of times and the ash was firm. No burn problems to speak of. Summary: Overall a good full bodied cigar, I just wish it had a more depth. Cigar: Cigar #190 Member:PurosDave Const:4 Burn:5 Draw:4 Aroma:5 Flavor:9 Taste:9 Overall:9 Total:45 PreSmoke:'This toro sized cigar is wrapped in a smooth maduro color wrapper. The cap is well applied finishing off a nice looking cigar. A quick squeeze tells me that this cigar is well bunched and is only slightly soft at the foot.' Smoke:'Pre-light draw is maybe just a bit too easy and it stayed this way throughout the cigar, but each draw provided a ton of smoke. It burned straight after correcting a very early run that could have been caused by lighting to quickly. The aroma is very strong, smelling of cedar and peppery spices, but pleasing. The first inch was very strong but mellowed a little and allowed the flavors to come through. A nice complex mixture of flavors grabbed my attention and made me forget about watching the movie I put in the DVD player.' Summary: This is a great cigar for any smoker that enjoys strong full-bodied cigar. I am glad that I waited until the end of the day to smoke it. The flavor and strength match nicely without one overpowering the other. Very nice job by the master blender on this one. Now, what is it? |
