I got 20 years good out of the Kitchen Aid branded grinder. Ultimately, the plastic housing cracked and it wasn't able to be made sanitary. To replace it, I went on Amazon and bought the Chef's Choice International for about $85. Works fine with the mixer. It's also solid metal and is almost too much grinder for the mixer.

I may be the one guy who grinds enough meat that $85 isn't too extravagant a price to pay. As solidly built as it is, it will likely outlive me.

I don't buy industrial ground beef. With my immune system, a food poisoning like e coli could be fatal. There is not enough oversight and too many ways it can be tainted. Not worth the risk. I buy Chuck, round or brisket and grind my own.

If you think about it, all of the recalls on the media are industrially ground beef.

The Kitchen Aid branded attachment is cheaper and will likely serve your needs.
Unconventional wisdom is seldom either.

Every time you think you've become too cynical, the world finds a way to teach you that the real problem is that you haven't become cynical enough

Free speech is free speech is free speech. There is no qualifier.

If you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention.

Sic transit whatever.
