Discada cooking

Anyone have any experience with this? Kind of a Southwest/Cowboy Wok idea? I different ways of cooking, especially for family events/camping.

www.thesmokering.com has a forum dedicated to discada cooking. I prefer a wok on the same type of rig myself.

I have no financial ties to the site, but I've been a member for many years and have learned a lot there.

My neighbor old man Watson got one from his son in law..I went and checked it out, it's pretty cool! He got avocado oil and has been cooking with it. Says it has a higher smoking point than pnut oil

Might be a good idea since you are shooting 50K BTUs underneath it.

I use the discada for making fajitas for a large group (ball games etc) but have used it for countless other meals. And I too can vouch for the Smoke Ring. Good people and informative site.

I abandoned my discada for a Blackstone propane flat top griddle. I still use the wok rig for Chinese cooking, but the 36" griddle makes fajitas and other foods quicker and more efficiently. With a Groupon, the griddle was about$150. Can't recommend it more, other than I don't use it as often as I should. Makes brunch a short order cook. As efficient as a line cook when I was younger, but much smaller portions. Jeebus, I used to be able to cook 20+ eggs to order along with bacon, ham, and sausage for 3 hours+ every morning and after lunch prepped and cooked pizzas until 2Am and cleaned the ovens twice a week after. I didn't sleep for almost 2 years, and only quit when my parents sat me down and told me that I was going to die if I kept it up. Banked the earnings (@3.35/hour) and bought my first car (shitty Toyota Tercel) with them.

Lord, but I wish I had that stamina now. Misspent youth.

And before you guffaw, if I knew then what I know now, I would have spent less time working and studying to get back into college and more time chasing 20 year old tail. I'm a traditional about the sacred sex between married people at 50, but when I was 20, the crack of dawn wasn't safe around me.

As I said, misspent youth.
