i got a 100ct desktop humidor (samsador).

i use climmax beads. when i was digging through my humidor yesterday, i felt that the cigars at the bottom of the humidor are dried out, or drier than the nice silky, oily ones at the top.

i keep my cigar stash pretty neat, so things are packed neatly and all the cigars are sitting snug against each other.

is it jsut me, or is this a problem??? anyone else have t his experience of dry cigars at the bottom of the stash?

Your snugness could be causing your problem. Try rotating them every 2 month's. And leave an air gap for the humidity to circulate. Or, put climax beads on the top and bottom.

I noticed the same problem. What I did was remove the inside tray. Not only does this give me more room, but it allows the humidity to get to the bottom. When the tray is full, there is really no way for the humidity to get to the bottom.

i think there's small misunderstanding here.

my problem doesnt have anything to do with trays.

the top tray and bottom area both have climmax beads. the most-bottom layer of the bottom area are where the dry cigars are.

i'll switch the cigars around a bit and see how it goes .

I had always assumed that more humid air sank but someone with a modicum of scientific insight pointed out the other day that humid air is actually less dense than less humid air. As a result, the air at the bottom of your humidor is going to be less humid than the air at the top, which could lead ot the condition you describe. Might be a good idea to set up a rotation scheme for every couple of months or so.

I understand what you're talking about. My suggestion would be to make sure you have quite a variety of cigar shapes in your humidor, and don't sort them. This will ensure that there are gaps to let the air move around.

Try not to be so tidy, too.

You can have it full, but they shouldn't be packed snug.

When I get a new box of cigars, one of the first things I do before putting it in a coolerdor is remove one cigar from each layer of the box, just to give them a little breathing room.

Same for your humi.

You wouldn't want to try and sleep in a bed with so many women that you couldn't even turn over, would ya?
