Solid Mahogany Chest Humidor for my Brother
This is the humidor I did for my Brother. Solid mahogany, lid compartment above with a drawer below. I liked the original condition of this box. Other than touching up the finish and cleaning it I left it alone.
Finish is a little cloudy on top, and there are some scratches and dings. Antique aficionados call that character. All opened up in the test phase. I made 2 custom humidifiers. As the two above compartments are under the lid, I'm hoping one will do it for that section. And one for the drawer. I think the top left compartment was probably for cigarettes. Lid closed on the top left compartment. All the wood appears to be Spanish cedar. A plunger in the center of the hinge plate locks the drawer when the lid is closed. A.B.E. The old timers did the engraving by hand. You don't see that fine detail with the engraving machines. |

That's unique! We have several antique shops in the area. I've visited a couple and they had some cigar humidors and related items, but, most of them were is poor condition. I suppose they could be restored. I also came across a cigar press. I should have purchased it when I was there because when I went back, it was gone! I'll have to visit some more shops and see what I can find.

It takes a lot of looking to find the occasional gem.
