Exclamation Leccia "banned" from IPCPR in Vegas....

"I am saddened to announce that my Debut is on hold. I have been barred from attending the Cigar Show by court order. I will however, be vigorously pursuing Oliva's failure to fulfill it's contractual obligations to me and my family. I have faith in the legal system and I will see you all as soon as possible. Thank You all, from the bottom of my heart, for your continued support."

- Sam Leccia, about 12:50 Central time, 07/16/11

Is there a link, or would someone like to offer up the back story?

Thanks everyone.

It looks like Leccia is under a noncompete with Oliva.

I was under one of those while working for a software company. NOT fun!

So much for the impression that the cigar industry is all one big family full of happy people who work together on a handshake.

May have been at one time, and with some people, but times change, and in the end, it's all about the money. Without the money, nobody would do anything.

maybe I'm remembering wrong but it seemed like the post boom was a wild west world of shooting your enemies one day and being best buddies the next

Yep, that's what I've always heard as well. Once again, it was all about the money. Until the boom, so many of them were screwing widows out of their pension funds, but Boom. All of a sudden, BOOM, and they went and started screwing the old family industries. Once the boom was over, most of them went back to ripping off little old ladies, and people like the toranos and the quesadas tried to regain their footings. It's amazing that any single one of the boom-only manufacturers stayed in the business.

There is more to this story I'm guessing. My family owns a company that in the course of trying to get it off the ground hired the wrong guy. He essientially sold all the important info to another company. He helped them to backward engineer their machine and allowed them to skip out on all the R&D.
