Gawith, Hoggarth & Co Bright CR Flake
I was expecting this flake Virginia tobacco to be similar to other brands like Orlik Golden Slices, Sam Gawith Best Brown, or Peter Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake. These all have a similar hay, and dried fruit sweet smell common to all Virginia blends. But Bright CR is very different. As the name implies, it is sweet and bright, the brightest tobacco flavors I have ever experienced in a Virginia blend. There is a lemon zest like flavor that stands out. Flavors are bolder then I expected, and spicy.
The tobaccos used in the blend are from Brazil, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. This blend does not use any casings, and I detect no Lakeland flavor, just the exotic rich tasting Virginia tobaccos. Like all Virginia blends, this tobacco will age well, developing bolder flavors over time. I should mention I did get a little tongue bite, so if you are sensitive to Virginia blends, this tobacco bites a bit. Long Flake ![]() Nice golden color ![]() Rubs out to a nice medium shag ![]() |
