Wow there are some strange cigar homes out there in the social world... I was added to one and have left after seeming to piss them off by offering up that there are very few absolutes in cigars other than "like what you smoke, smoke what you like"

Apparently there is a perfect temp, RH, and there is a best cigar in the world

People tend to find others whom share their level of incompetence, opinion or comfort zones on various subjects. Often, the louder they claim "awesomeness and openness" the more restrictive and inflexible the group actually is. One reason I have stayed here at CW, more than anywhere else, is because we compartmentalize issues/specific topics, each to their own room and thereby remain intact as a whole. So, there's a guy who thinks exactly the opposite of you on the topic of Emo Dance Politics? That's not a big deal breaker. Because in the real world what does that change? Not that much really. Because at the end of the day, we as cigars smokers are a relatively small and threatened group and we gotta stick together. That does not mean we all have to like The Insane Clown Posse. It just means that we can disagree without having a complete mental meltdown over little stuff......mostly.

If you get bounced from here, you really had to try. Others leave for various reasons, but that's always up to each member. I have almost always liked the tone of the room here. We have a great space for cigars, family and all of the other shitte that surrounds the modern human animal. I guess I like the People, too.

That's why I call it Home.

I had not joined, I had been added, and did not intentionally join

I don't need to see pictures of what you are smoking today or read that yonly smoke limited editions

Smoke what you like, and like what you smoke...

I got absolutely slammed on a particular Cigar board for trying to discuss kitty litter with them. The topic had been posted by someone who had a small humidor and wanted to use Heartfelt beads but didn't feel like they were worth it. I explained I've used the kitty litter for years and gave a basic explanation of how it works.

I got LIT UP repeatedly by so many people. They flat out told me it didn't/wouldn't work and that I was completely stupid for thinking it would. They gave me the "you can afford cigars, you can afford better humidification" lecture.

I was dumbfounded. I've used those beads for going on five years now. My humidors maintain rock solid 67% RH for months and months at a time. Heck, I've even stopped using distilled water because I figure the beads have to be near end of life, but they just keep going.

I left shortly thereafter.

Mac, the Academy is full of"experts" that are fools in the real world.

The way I look at it, know what you know and know that you know it. Attacking someone else leaves you open to be foolish. Sharing your experience and knowledge shouldn't be hand to hand combat. For me, 99 times out of a hundred it's just not worth elevating my blood pressure over.

Sounds strikingly similar... also saw people apologizing for using coolidors... and a guy saying you needed to use some high end cooler...

My efforts for common sense were just like I was too low class

Dear god when I said Cubans are often felt to have issues with keeping them lit you'd have sworn I had said their moms were whores.
