Best Album (or CD, whatever) of all time?

I would have to say either Aqualung, Dark Side of the Moon, Never Mind the Bollocks, or The Ramones (first album).

I know, this is entirely subjective, and I know that Cataldo will be in with his favorite Frankie Valley release, but what is, or are, the release(s) that truly impacted your life?

Anyone posting a Beatles album will be taunted and reviled, almost as much as anyone who posts a Justin Beiber or Miley Cyrus release...

Too many to comprehensively list, let alone attempt to recall (as in all).

John Coltrane definitely (what else would you expect given my avatar?)... Either The Complete 1961 Village Vanguard Recordings or A Love Supreme... Hard to choose between these two.

Furtwängler's October 7, 1944 Berlin Philharmonic rendition of Bruckner's 9th Symphony is, despite the compromised sound quality, a simultaneously thrilling and shattering emotional listening experience.

Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks has always been a personal favourite as well.

Wow. Since it doesn't take into effect that music is emotion and make allowances for genre, stage of life or anything else, I'd have to pick Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys. Might seem an unlikely choice, but seeing as it was the first album that was conceived as a singular work rather than a collection of hit singles and went on to inspire works like Sgt. Pepper (not to mention that it has one of the best melodies in rock history in God Only Knows), if it isn't #1, it's certainly in the top 5. Artistically, it's up there with Beethoven's 9th (Ode To Joy is another of time's best melodies).

Led Zeppelin II. I like almost all forms of music but this record defines my adolescence/coming of age. It is definitely the soundtrack of my misspent youth and has withstood the test of time. So many haunting memories...good and bad are attached to this record. Is there better music out there? Sure. But for me this one is it.

Geeezz, as Jazznut said, it would take some doing for me to sit down and come up with a list of "The Best", those that have impacted my life in some way.
I suppose I will just have to be subjected to ridicule in this case. 'cuz if I had to pick the "one" album that impacted me the most it would have to be the "Meet the Beatles" album. I'm not saying it's the best, it's not even The Beatles best, but it definitely had an impact on my life in several ways. I can still vividly remember as a kid, standing in front of our stereo and singing while playing air guitar (before it was even invented ) to the music.......over and over again! I'm SURE i must have driven my parents insane!!!
Jeff, I'd also include The Ramones (first album) on my "list" as well. When I first heard that album, it in some way took me BACK to that very time with "Meet the Beatles".
I'd also have to put one that jazznut mentioned on my list...."Blood on the Tracks". I had always listened to and enjoyed Dylan, but for some reason when I listened to this album it gave me a whole new perspective on him. Afterward I would go back and listen to his earlier work with a new interest and appreciation.
Another album that had a huge effect on me was Tom waits "Heart Attack & Vine".
