What did Keenam do to offend Mike Zimmer?
Your starting QB goes down with a season ending injury, the number 2 still still isn't 100% following a horrific preseason injury in 2016. Your forced to turn to your number third string QB who has limited game experience and isn't looked at as a QB with huge potential. On paper your season's over.
Enter third screen QB Case Keenam who leads the team to an 11-3 record, finishes with a completion percentage of 67.6 percent for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and 7 interceptions and guides the team to the NFC Championship.
Seriously should they not be naming a street after this guy and offering him the key to the city? Did Zimmer catch him dating his daughter after being warned to stay away? Even after the season Zimmer is not saying that Keenam has any future with the Vikings and has recently spoken that Bradford's knee problems are behind him. Let's look at the options: Bradford is talented but has shown that he can't stay healthy. Bridgewater is still a bit of an unknown following his injury and Keenam came into the season with no expectations and had a pro bowl style year. Just to add a bit of fat to the fire: all three are free agents.
Bradford needs a backup and will come at a high price given his age. Bridgewater may be available at a decent price but his health is still a question. Keenam had a great year, but can he do it again? With OC Mike Shurmur off to the Giants, it wouldn't surprise me if Keenam follows him there.
Either way it appears that Zimmer is set on resigning Bradford and we may be talking again in a years time about another backup who's played well in Minnesota.
