How do you humidify?

I just finished my china cabinet conversion and was wondering the most cost effective and easiest form of humidification.

I have 8lbs of Kitty litter pearls from a couple years ago that I didn't end up using in the wine cooler and I would like to use them because it would cost me nothing out of pocket.

Anybody use them for a cabinet?
