it'll take some time for the humi to get 'normalized' - I found loading it with cigars helped some, too. And I ended up turning the humidity setting to the low sixties. It holds a lot of water, it is going to throw some humidity just sitting there. And one fan does blow constantly.
to help quiet it, I set the unit on some foam rubber, it did help make it quieter
