Punch Roth Double Maduro - Oh, How I've Missed You

I just smoked one of the Punch Roth Double Maduro that I picked up on Cyber Monday. These used to be a staple of mine, but over the years I moved toward larger cigars. Even when I would buy Punch cigars I'd buy larger sizes, like the Pita. I figured they were the same, just bigger. Well, I was wrong.

This Punch Roth was fabulous. The smoke was so chewy and thick. It was sweet, but no overly so. Hints of leather and cream. A solid white ash. It was a fantastic smoke. And it lasted almost 1.5 hours.

When the smoke is thick and chewy I tend to take fewer draws, which allows the cigar to last longer. I think that's why a Punch Roth lasts so long for me despite its size.

I so wish I would have bought another box or two at that price. At $2 a stick it was a bargain.

The Hoyo version has been a staple for me for many years. I always have some on hand. Very consistent over the years

Enjoy these a great deal when I have a chance, as well.

The uncanny loyalty that the villazon maduro roth has is amazing. You guys are almost as loyal as the guys who smoke king edward.

Estell Padron was a master of Maduro and oscuro wrappers. He's long gone, but those blends are still damned good and are an excellent value. The Hoyo Governor in oscuro was my go to cigar for many years after I learned a bit about cigars and started smoking them regularly. They aren't quite strong enough for my tastes today, but I still enjoy one when I run across one.

I remember going to a herf in NC at the JR southern HQ there. Toured the warehouse, which is pretty impressive by itself, but had a ball going through the shelf stock and finding boxes of them with five years of age on them already.

I don't know if they even have an outlet in NC anymore. Didn't get to meet Lew, but I was told he was on the premises.
