Cigar Band Albums
I'd like to start saving and collecting cigar bands. Is there an album made that's designed specifically for this? If not - what do people use?
Thanks , Dave

I'm thinking about making a collage...I've got about a hundred different bands (and still counting). The album would also be a good idea, if such a thing exists. I haven't decided for sure what to do so I'll be interested to see what develops here...

I strongly doubt that there is an album specifically for that purpose, but I would imagine that an album for stamp collectors might work pretty well.

Hey Joe, I have the same cigar dossier. You peaked my interest, how do you attach the labels in your dossier?

What I've done with old bands is to use small bits of double-sided tape or folded-over masking take to stick bands to sheets of transparency film, which I then put into those clear protectors (8.5 x 11 size) that go in three ring binders. You can put a sheet of paper behind the transparency so that the bands are easier to see.
Works great, its available everywhere, and its infinately expandable. Hmm... just thought of something - if you are planning on keeping the bands for a long time (decades) check out the mounting system for stamp collectors or archival photography storage. Most pressure sensative tapes degrade over time and can become a real mess, and certain types of plastic (PVC IIRC.. some protector sleeves are made from it) give off an acid that will destroy the bands too. |

iluvcigars has an impressive Dossier himself. He carries it to herfs as well.
Mine has about 5 bands in it, but I've had it for less than a month...

Years ago I picked up a regular photo albumn with the sticky backing and clear sheet covers. It works great making a collage. I have pages and pages of labels from different cigars, many no longer made.
