All hail Habitat Monitor
After 10 years my Habitat Monitor controller started to hiccup. Occasionally it failed to trip the relay and shut off the Duracraft humidifier. No big deal.
A new one would cost hundreds (and be well worth the money) but even after 10 years the folks at CMT took care of me. For a reasonable fee they rebuilt the device - new humidity sensors, firmware and relay - and sent it back. And they did it all quickly and with no drama. I'm a customer for life. Thanks, David. |

Very cool. I hadn't heard of this company before, but I'll have to go check them out. Always glad to see companies with great customer service.

Great to hear they back their products, but I'm a little put off by the total lack of pricing information on their web site. "Call to order" isn't something I find particularly attractive.
And I am in the design phase of building a cooled room....

Cooled room? You mean a walk-in frigador? Sounds cool Don't be put off by the website, they are a custom boutique, not some big corporation with a full time webmaster. There was a time when I trusted $25k in aged cigars to their equipment and my humidor was rock solid stable. I see they have come up with new models since then. |

That's the idea. For me, the best solution I can come up with is a small, cooled room, with racks for my coolers. I use 65% beads, and the coolers maintain sock-solid humidity. I need temperature control, without breaking the bank every month when the electric bill arrives.
So I've partitioned my workroom closet, setting up a 4x8ft room, sealed and insulated. Leaning towards a Koolspace wine room unit for the temp control. No worries about humidity. Okay. That tells me what I needed to know about price.
