Bourbon Anyone?

For Christmas, my nephew (meaning well, I'm sure) gave me a three-pack of Maker's Mark bourbon seasoned cigars ( 6x50 toros) in glass tubes sealed with wax. My question: How bad are they going to be?

I've had a few liquor infused cigars gifted to me over the years and found the flavors to be decent to good. But they burned poorly unless you dry em out for while. So if you want to give these a try, open the tube and let it air out for a few days prior to smoking.

Also, go in with an open mind. Starting off with a negative attitude will just taint the experience. If you don't like 'em, you can at least tell your nephew that you gave one a try but flavored cigars just aren't your cup of tea.

I had one years ago.

It was like third rate Indonesian tobacco with some medicinal smelling stuff on the "cigars".

They were not for me. YMMV

But, it is the thought that counts.

Trade them, gift them, sell them, It's a shame to burn thirty dollars knowing that you probably won't like. Get rid of them and tell him that one is smoked, the others are being saved for really rare occasion, and that they were a nice change from the ordinary.

Somebody gets to try something different. You are she'd of them and have some trade or cash. He has a gracious thank you and since you're saving the others, he won't buy any more of them.

Win,win, win.

Yeah. Give one a shot, but DEFINITELY let it dry a few days.

Most of them are Dominican cigars, which is probably why I don't like them.

I got one from my girlfriend's little brother this year. Pretty curious about smoking it, not sure what to expect! I will say he was VERY excited to give it to me, so I will smoke it in his honor!

I thank you for your thoughtful answers. I plan on smoking one today...in Central Park, to make the experience more enjoyable, and will report back. Again, thanks. And, yes, it IS the thought that counts.

Well, at least you guys were gifted cigars! All I got was a lousy tee shirt!

I would smoke one with an open mind. Then pass the others on. Be gracious and thank your relative. Remember, it's the thought that counts.

I'd at least give it a try... if it sucks then you tried it and pass the other two on...

Agree with all the "it's the thought that counts..." posts.

Just be glad they weren't soaked in town branch bourbon!
