JMHO, but its not an "internet fallacy" and has not been "conclusively debunked".

BTW - My first two humidors, granted they were cheapies (a 25 ct. and 50 ct), were damaged, albeit only slightlyand only cosmetically, by using the wipe down method - didn't realize back then that the spanish cedar could be removed and water seeped thru the joints and eventually ruined the finish. Now this was some 15 years ago, but I stand by my opinion that one should NOT wipe it down.

There seems to be two accepted methods to seasoning humis. I fall in the slow but sure method.

JMHO and YMMV.........
