Ashtray Stands
Does anyone love these as much as I do? I have been looking for one for years, and finally got one last weekend. I was at my grandpa's and my uncle had this one, collecting dust. It's not in bad shape, but could use a paint job, but I don't know whether or not to paint it. Check out my link and look at it and gimme ya'll's opinion!

Weren't many of these things made or brass? Is that what I see on the handle?
Frankly, if it is not classified as antique then you would be safe stripping off the remaining paint. Then give it a good polish on all its metal parts to see if it shines up nice. If not, then get a premium primer and paint that matches the room it will be in. But definately see if you can clean some of the age off of it. |

I think its steel, the handle at the top looks like its rusting. I am going to get some brass polish tomorrow and see if it will clean up....

If it's that old, do as little as possible to it until you know what it can withstand. It's fantastic.

Got one just like it sitting next to my lazy boy Yours is a bit nicer than mine, but you gotta love them.
I went to this local cigar shop almost everday and saw this cigar ashtray stand and offered to pay for it...the owner said, "take it and enjoy" Talk about a great guy... 8)

That looks great buddy. I might try to clean the handle some just to see what under that crust. Other than that it really looks a nice piece.

I followed these on ebay for a while. They are not high dollar items. I like yours! My Granpa had one much like it. I'd clean it up and keep it as is.
