Advice Needed On Building A New Humidor

(Please excuse my obsession--it will pass shortly.) I'm cheap, desperate, and independent (to a point):

I'm looking to install a new humidor in my "dream" house. While a walk-in would be wonderful, I don't know if I want to go in that direction.

I was thinking about having a craftsman recreate the Siglo XXI (or some relative semblance) from the info. in MRN's book. I doubt that I will ever win the lottery, even if I did find someone willing to sell one of the 21 made. (Wouldn't it be great to find 1 for sale that still contained all of the cigars? That dream gives me the shivers. Doesn't matter--I'll never have that kind of $.)

Anyway--if I can't get rich and find someone that wanted to sell, maybe I can have my own built and then try to fill it myself (except for those discontinued smokes). I thought that IF anyone knew how, you guys would know better than anyone.

Any advice or directions? (I apologize if this has been asked before. If so, could you direct me to the thread.)

Many Thanks.

I built a large cabinet style humidor a couple of years ago. It was/is one of my most prized accomplisments.
There isn't really a whole lot of information available on the net, but I would be more than happy to share a few of the more important tips here.
I built my cabinet and liner as two seperate entities. I build the facade of the cabinet, bottom, and two sides first. I then went to work on the seal of the door from the "inside" The cedar lining was the placed using rabbet style joints on the coners with tongue and groove on the planks. When the front, bottom, and sides were covered with the cedar, I went up with cedar in the back and top. Using this method, no glue or screws were required on the cedar. I glued on the top exterior and back as my last step.
In Indy, our lumber supplier had cedar in a 1" thick board. I had them split them in the middle, ending up with 7/16 thick boards. I had them plane one face, the outside face can be rough - no one will ever know.

Feel free to email me for more information.
