I can't imagine why anyone, especially a dealer would sand an antique cabinet such as this. Usually the only time this takes place is if something has received a coat of paint at some point or if it was varnished poorly.

I'm always wary of "refinished" antiques, not that these are fake or anything, just makes you wonder.
