Oversaturating Beads?

I recieved a pound of 65% beads just after Christmas. I understood that they came "pre-charged", so I seperated them into 4 nylon sacks and put them in my endtable. I had a couple of bowls of distilled water inside before they arrived to try to equalize the humidor before putting my smokes inside. It was resting at about 62%. When I removed the bowls and replaced them with the beads, over a 48 hour period the humidity dropped to 55%. After another 5 days, it stabalized at 58%. I put the beads in a bowl and poured distilled water over them. They absorbed all the water, but snap, crackled, and popped as they did. The snap, crackle, and pop concern me! My question is can you ruin them by over saturating them? I have never heard of this, but want to know for future experiences. It is now resting comfortably at 64%. Thanks for you comments in advance,

DCS
