Don Tomas Special Edition Fat Toro
First Impressions
The Special Edition Toro is wrapped in white tissue paper, with a white band with red letters and gold "HAND MADE" and "LONG FILLER". The cigar is vaguely phallic at 6 x 60. The wrapper is dark brown, mottled with some prominent veins. The cigar exhibited soft spots throughout. The pre-light aroma is tobacco, grassy, with notes of horses. Seriously. Comments Irrespective of the veins and soft spots, the cigar burned evenly. The flowering ash was light grey, and maintained station until 1 3/4 inches. I tested the strength of the cigar by inhaling. By my standards, this is a mild cigar. The cigar tastes of grasses and is slightly arid. For the first first third of its length, the taste was unidimensional and unremarkable. After about half, some nice leathery notes crept in. For such a big cigar, the smoke was not as cool as I expected, and smoke volume was medium-low. In general this cigar was a disappointment to me. It's priced right, though. I got a box of 20 for 37.00 USD plus shipping from cigarbid. |
