Steely Dan in Concert?
Thinking about seeing the Dan, any comments on their live show. Big fan for a long time but have heard some disappointing stories in the past.

From what I remember they have never been much of a touring band. I like there music, especially the older albums.

I saw them play live on Letterman a few years back and they kicked ass.

ex wife saw them 3 or 4 times while we were married. I did not do the concert thing (too much hearing loss, too little ROI on ticket prices, unwilling to sit on a freaking hill in 9 degree weather)

I saw them twice at Great Woods/Tweeter Center in the mid 90's and had a great time at both shows. The music was spot on. I'd go again.

Saw 'em last year on the Two Against Nature tour. I was a little dissapointed as I though the band could have been tighter (it was the first show of the tour). I also don't like their live album.
I do have all their records and think I'll stay a better fan if I don't go to their live shows.

I saw a show in their first tour since the seveties (I think it was early 90s?) It was pretty good, but they played only the standard Steely Dan hits, nothing more obscure or that wasn't a hit. They are a studio band (duo?) first and foremost, and that is where they really shine. I might go see a show this tour since I love Steely Dan, but their albums are where it's at IMHO.
