Help with climmax beads.

I recentely bought two pounds of 65% Climmax beads from Mhotek,excelent fast servise.very satisfied in that regard.my cooler was fluctuating between 62-67.i heard that the beads hold a rock steady 65.heres what hapined in my case:

Placed beads in container,over soaked them,poured the exsess water from the container,placed in cooler,next day,sold 70% for two dayes,opened the cooler and instead of the habano and cedar aroma im acustomed to i am struck with a chemical aroma,i sniff the beads container and its from there,is this the norm?wont this negatevly effect my cigars?anyway left the container out of the cooler overnight,in the morning opened the cooler and the smell is weaker but still there,the humi is now at 80%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What did i do wrong????is this just a bad batch or something???HELP!!!
