If you have to use a draw tool, it's already too tight. Shoving a needle through it will put more pressure on the wrapper.
I suggest getting the narrowest crochet hook possible, if it is thinner than the poker. It is true, slowly, gently, occasionally pull it back out to let it loosen. Before poking, try to very gently work the hard mass in the bunch to a softer, better breathing bunch. This often works and it is far better than poking it. It always seems to me to be a lump or a twisted bunch that causes the problem. f you crack the wrapper, it isn't the end of the world. Keep in mind that the corona is the narrowest common vitola, and using a big radius needle is going to cause immensely more pressure than going through a robusto. |
