More times than not Emmitt cut through a hole that was on the other side of where the play was designed to go. He may not have "moves" that the untrained eye could see, what he had was a vision to "feel" a play developing and find a hole. Even defenders used to comment that they recognized the play, went to the hole, only to find Emmitt had gone somewhere else on his own. This has become more visible as he has aged and lost a step. In the NFL the holes are only there for a matter of seconds before they collapse, so simply saying a back had a great line is naive.
