Here's an interesting exercise...

How do you explain Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band to an 11 year old?

It's like explaining Citizen Kane to him. He's surrounded by what came after it, but has no clue how different that album was or how influential.

I tried by explaining that before it, albums were collections of unrelated songs. This record saw the whole product as a work of art instead of the individual songs. Sort of like a print cartoon. The individual panels compose a larger whole.
