Bought baby backs @$1.77/lb 4th of July week. Picked up big butts @$0.99/lb today.

John, I can get them for$2/lb. Trick is that you have to drive to Smyrna to pick them up. I'm still looking for a place to order them by the case for me. Restaurant Supply is much, much further and I have to buy a daily membership, as I no longer have a food license. Finding dino bones has gone back to nearly impossible again.

We need to do brisket soon. Still have 2 full Packers in the freezer.

enjoy the low prices while you can, the market reaction when farmers shift to other things will be ugly

prices that do not accurately reflect the cost of production are not always good for the consumer long term

It's not easy for a rancher to stop raising hogs and pick up cattle though.... and the world does not need more chicken.

they don't switch like that, they throttle back production of hogs. and a hog farmer is not going to switch to chickens without a HUGE investment (those immense chicken coops are not cheap). Again, they throttle back production.

market stability is a good thing.

I have a cousin in the cattle business in Kentucky. He's looking at hard times.

Meat surpluses is why I have 3 freezers. Buy it when it's cheap and eat it when it's dear.
