World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel
Got hooked on this a few weeks ago and have watched nearly every week since then. Last night was the championship round for $1 Million.
Leading up to the final hand poker legend Doyle Brunson (read his book, right?) went down to half million dollar (all in) bluff holding a Q, 8 when two other players called him. The hand eliminated not only Brunson but another world class poker player, Ted Forrest. The resulting 1.5 million pot put Alan Goehring into the chip lead. The final hand was played between Goehring (who had never won a tournament even after finishing 2nd in three tournaments) and a newcomer Russian kid, Kirill Gerasimov, who only learned to play poker 18 months ago after reading Doyle Brunson's book and who earned the right to play after winning a $180 buy-in satellite tournament.
