CONFEDERATIONS CUP FOOTBALL (SOCCER)
U.S. faces Turkey in the Confederations Cup today at around 1pm EST in Saint Etienne. If you have Galavision on cable, you'll probably be able to catch the game this evening. Both national sides had their greatest showing this past summer in the World Cup, and this should be an interesting matchup even though both sides are without many of their "stars". Both sides will feature their domestic players - so I think this is actually a better gauge to see how far American soccer has come. American goalkeeper Tim Howard is starting - I'm sure his performance will help determine whether Manchester United will finally pull the trigger on rumors they will purchase his contract from MLS.
Turkey's current FIFA world ranking: 8th. U.S. is 10th. More info on the Confederations Cup can be found at www.fifa.com Go States! |
