First Connie...723

You guys are always talking about Connies, so I grabbed a bundle (with yellow cello!) at the Statesville NC store while I was there (along with a box of ERDMs). The Connie experience has been bittersweet. The cigar itself has some of the best flavor I have ever tasted in a cigar. The downside is that they are slightly underfilled and the cap is very loose and fragile. What misery.

they are known to be somewhat inconsistent, although I've had pretty good luck overall

Well they are bundled cigars - if you compare it to what you would have paid for the "perfect stick" it's a great deal. I'm a fan of the connie maduro #9 and I also have several punch maduro rothschilds. They are the same cigar, taste the same and almost always smoke the same. The Punch looks superior, but it's a $5 cigar and the connie is sub $1 cigar.

Inconsistent is the best thing I can say about them. Had some great 9ms, 733s, and 633s but also some that weren't much better than smoking rolled paper.

Of course they're inconsistant--they're factory seconds or over-runs.

Inexpensive and danged tasty. If I have to touch one up, who cares? At a buck a stick, I'm happy. When I have to touch up a $10 stogie, however, I'm not so happy (and it has happened)

They ain't seconds for nothing . If you like the Villazon flavor profile then there is probably not a better value around. If you don't like the Villazon taste then obviously it's a terrible value.

I don't care for the Villazon taste but I have occasionally enjoyed the JR Ult and more recently the FDA PC-ish size (# 5) and likewise an occaisional Connie.

If I did like Villazons (I wish I did) I be all over the Connies terrific value. I think the value outweighs the inconsistent nature of seconds you are also gonna get occasional bad firsts with most brands it's part of being a handmade product.

IMHO

I'm a fan. The #50 Minister is my go-to golf gar every weekend. Long cigar, mild so I'm not loopy while trying to putt, it's been consistently "good enough" for me. When my supply runs out I'm definitely buying more.

I am currently sitting on a box of #30's that I am trying to at least get 6 months on them before I dig into them, however, I have cheated and for the cost, they are really good!! If they continue to get better, as I expect, I will definitely buy again.

Hit or miss, but worth the price.
