Humidor Seasoning

I know there are two schools of thought on the seasoning of a new humi. What's the best way in your opinion and why? The wipe down method or the passive method?

Passive. No sponge fragments on the cedar, no warping of the wood. It takes longer, but other than checking the humidification devices and filling a small bowl full of water, you don't have to do a damn thing.

Somebody's anxious to get their new humi

Why rush it and risk doing something wrong; passive all the way.

Passive

Patience is a virtue and it'll serve you well when seasoning your humidor. A small container of distilled H20 and some time is about as simple as it gets. Adding water directly to the interior wood is asking for trouble.

Th only humidor I've ever wiped down the inside with was my 120 qt. Igloodor...and that was to eliminate the plastic smell.

passive If you get a cabinet and an oasis even easier. That's still passive right Within a day mine was good to go, and like others said, no warping, sponge fragments or stains.

Cheers,

Jeff
