New cigarette warning labels mandated. Cigars next?
Dead Body, Cancerous Lungs to Appear on U.S. Cigarette Packs, FDA Decides

I shall not put the wonderful images up that our dear govt will be putting on packs of cigarettes, and I wonder how long before cigar makers will have to put said images of death and destruction full size on boxes of cigars? Woo Hoo.

Those pictures don't bother me one bit. I watched an autopsy while eating lunch during first responder training. I would hate to see them on cigar boxes only because they would ruin the box. They won't deter me from smoking cigars.

Why stop, then with cigarettes. How about a 420 pound person on all ice cream, cookie and pizza labels.

I saw a phot gallery of the labels. They won't work. They are way to tame to scare anybody.

But just as we're all desensitized to Violence on TV, and sex (hubba hubba) in the media, these lables won't deter a thing. It's more "feel good" nanny state legislation.

They can put whatever they want on cigarette packages...I don't smoke them anyway. If they want to put a picture on cigars...g'head and try to fit it on a cello or put it on the box. I buy singles and 5 paks more than I do boxes and it wouldn't matter if they put dead bodies for pictures...I'm still going to enjoy my cigars no matter. The Anti Smoking Lobby can kiss my a$$.

It won't stop anyone. All it shows is the sheer stupidity and wastefulness of our gov't. and it's spending of our tax dollars.
If someone is so damn stupid as to not know the hazards already, they need thinning out of the herd anyway. And if they are so gullible, or naive, or whatever you want to call it, that a picture of a rotting, diseased, cancerous lung makes them stop, then they should not have started in the first place. And probably could stand a little thinning out, also. Both are Darwin Awards waiting to happen.

I'm wondering when the Nanny state will begin to regulate the minimum amount of sleep you must get each night, perhaps with government supplied, mini bed-cam, GPS enabled, alarm clocks. (with fierce lobbying supporting the measure by the manufacturer of said government required devices, of course. Ahhh....nothing finer than "Capitalism by Fiat," eh?)
After all, who's more dangerous on the road than a sleepy driver? Why its just as bad as driving drunk, or so the studies say. Its long been my assumption that NYS will eventually require a State Case Worker to be assigned at birth, so that all aspects of your life can be monitored and mandated. Current prognostication? Soon, you won't be able to have a backyard pool without a certified lifeguard.
