Looking for Stone Crabs

I am going to order some stone crab in the not too distant future...

Anyone have any recommendations on where to order from ?

My search landed me on this site:

Season opens Oct 15 I think. I usually get it locally but I'll keep an eye out. Obviously, if you get it now it is from last year. I'd recommend waiting a bit.

Best,
J.

So , now that they are in season , any recommendations of an online place that isnt horribly expensive ?

I have seen them anywhere from $40/lb to over $250/lb...

I've never used these folks so it is up to you to find out I suppose. But they aren't too far up the road and buying from local crabbers.

You may not have seen them in your searches.

Good luck!

Just as a follow up, I ordered from the folks I mentioned above. Shipping may be pricy since it is overnite delivery but they is some good fresh claws.

And shipping, while expensive, is still easier to celebrate with on a specific day...like an anniversary or something else that you almost forgot.

Well , I ordered 2 lbs of the jumbos, man I see why people love these things. As Jester said , shipping kills ya , but , i found out my butcher can get them at slightly more per pound than I paid online , so saves a bunch on shipping ...
