Mold is like any biological agent. It will infect a tiny spot where conditions are optimal, and spread. Look at a bagel, and you'll see what you can expect on your cigars. Spots, patches, maybe even streaks on a vein, but what you can expect to find are elevated spots of material that is white matte in appearance, if not down right fluffy.

When you see a thin film, or sparkles like you see on an in shell salted peanut, you are looking at bloom.

the simple answer is that if it looks like mold, it probably is.
