Worst vocalist in a "great" band.
Bob Dylan, and Lou Reed come to mind.
I was listening to Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" the other day, which by the way has one of the best intros' to a song ever, but damn his vocals are weak. |

Dire Straits. Knopfler's voice is mediocre, IMO, but it works with the music (mostly).

I never cared for:
Robert Plant - LZ Geddy Lee - Rush Now; notice the word "suck" did not appear in any form in my statement. Funny how when you say you don't like one or both of these two people get angry like you had insulted their grandmother or something... Conversely, Captain Beefheart has a deplorable voice, but it worked wonderfully with the music he and Zappa wrote.

I am a Rush fan So I disagree with your Geddy Lee choice!
Eric Clapton is one of the greatest guitar players but he does not have the best voice!

Wow, it's amazing how widely perceptions can vary. I really like Geddy Lee, Brian Johnson, Lou Reed, Clapton and Mark Knopfler.
As far as Van Halen goes, there is no singer but DLR - anyone else fronting that band is going to suck balls. Period. Dylan - well, I don't like any part of anything he does anyway. Plant was perfect for LZ. I think his voice has gotten much better in recent years. I keep seeing a concert with him and his new band Strange Sensation on one of the HD channels and man, does he sound great. Even doing LZ material. If you can you should check it out. Who I would pick would be Mick Jagger (I love the stones, but generally hate his voice), Jim Dandy (I was just reading the BOA thread) and a whole bunch of singers for newer bands (sorry, I don't pay enough attention to get the names) - a lot of the bands have really good , heavy music, but really wimpy singers, so I just can't get into them.
