Old Fashioned

This week I was in a small rural border town of WV/MD for work. One night after work I stopped in a local bar for drinks. The hot lil tatted bartender made me an Old Fashioned and damn if it wasn't the best one I've ever had. I asked what she used to make it she said "Knob Creek". Damn it was perfect. I may or may not have had more than one.

good spirits make good cocktails, don't scrimp on the other ingredients

You know, I don't think I've ever had an Old Fashioned.

An old fashioned made with brandy is also quite good (and contains lots of vitamins).

I like a good Old Fashioned.

Manhattan, too.

I have even made an Irish Old Fashioned.

Be sure to use a quality, aged Irish whiskey.

Do you guys use two types of bitters? (Angostura and Orange)

I have a handful of bitters on hand. Lately Bittermen’s habanero shrub are favored.

But it’s the cherries that make the difference. Nothing but a Luxardo will do.
