Is McFadden the best the Cowboys can do?

On Thursday, the former Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray decided to sign a five-year deal with NFC East rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles.

On Friday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones finally decided it was time to get in gear and makes some moves in the free agency period three days after by signing former Oakland Raiders running back Darren McFadden to help fill the void Murray left. Did that move even make a dent?

McFadden (aka Run DMC) signed a two-year deal with the Cowboys that will pay him in an upwards to $5.85 million. The deal also includes a $200,000 signing bonus.

McFadden is coming off a 2014 season where he finally played all 16 games, but he was not very effective on a terrible Oakland Raiders team. Last season McFadden carried the ball 155 times for 534 yards and two touchdowns while backing up <em>Latavius Murray </em>for a large part of the season.

So all in all, the Cowboys replaced a quality Murray with an underachieving low-risk player that backed up another Murray. Is McFadden even part of the answer for the Cowboys?
