Marking Cigar Bands?

Does anyone else mark the back of the bands of the cigars you plan on aging so you know how long they have been in the humidor?

I keep a database with the brand, size, date acquired, band number, purchased from, and price to use as reference.

Naturally, I only mark the ones that I am going to age.

Any thoughts? Stupid idea?...good idea?...too much time on my hands?
