May have To Actually Start "Wet Boxing"
Went to cut the head off a RyJ mini church, and the damn thing splint almost halfway down the length. Actually, it more unravelled along a leaf so it is repairable. Humidity in the tupperdor is steady, except for when I open it. Then, it drops like a rock. The problem of the dry desert.
Now, I just have to find some pectin next time I go to the grocery store. Either that, or a UHU glue stick. Those are very popular here.

Wet your fingertip with clean water, and moisten the entire cigar.
Some people do the "hold cigar under running water (foot down, natch) thing", but that seems a bit extreme. Just moisten, wipe gently with clean tissue, and then cut.

You may need several stages. 65% for holding - then a 40% stage, for a week before smoking, then a 'dry box' that's not more than 15% higher than local average daily RH...
There is a reason some folks 'lick' the cap, or roll it in their mouths before cutting... and I think you found it....

Good points. Humidity here has been averaging less than 10%, sometimes less than 5% here according to the hygrometer I calibrated before leaving to come here.

If it ain't wet, you're doing it wrong.
