Storing Cigars
Hi all
I would like to ask a question about storing cigars in the humidor. Do I need to use barriers to separate the cigars so they don’t touch each other? Or can I just put them in there so I can store more cigars? Thanks Roger |

The dividers just take up space, in my opinion.Cigars touching each other is not a problem, and won't affect their aging at all. Do not, however, mix flavored or "infused" cigars with regular cigars.

Mooch maduro? Coffee Break?
the Oliva Robusto is certainly NOT. Smell it. Then smell the other cigars, and, if you smell "coffee" or Chocolate, it's infused. Keep those in separate containers.

smell your cigars. Smell anything unusual? Cigar that just smell like tobacco smell that way because that is the nature of tobacco.
A cigar that smells like allspice, chocolate latte, cinnamon, or even absorbine junior has artificial volatile components added in, and these not only evaporate as the cigar is smoked, they evaporate during storage, as well. Anything that evaporates from one cigar will, without fail, be capable of slipping straight into the open pores of both your wooden humidor, and your tobacco leaf. So, don't put anything into a humidor that you are not willing to be shared among all of it's classmates. If you ever go to a cigar store, and walk in to the humi room and smell some choking cloud of gunk, it's probably acid cigars. They really, seriously, can penetrate. The last time I visited one of the local places they had a whole room full of acid. the room temp was in the 80s or so. I was sweating, choking, and wound up in an asthma attack. |
