Most talented guitarist?
I am talking less about the artistic side or the ability to create within the music and moreso just being a badass guitar player. Acceleration, changes in pace, use of wa(sp) pedal, etc.
Clapton and Hendrix were great. I know mannish likes VH. Who are some others that are incredibly skilled on the physical side of it?

I'm not qualified to say who had the most talent. But my favorites were Duane Allman and Stevie Ray

Am I the only person in the world that thinks Clapton is the most over rated player that ever strapped on an electric guitar? He's a successful pop musician, has dabbled in some marginal blues, played some decent heavy metal stuff early, but one of the greatest? Not in my opinion.
Along with the others listed, I like that Joe Walsh was mentioned. He had some decent licks, and I liked his clean style. I'll add a name that came up last night in another discussion, Junior Brown. |

Are we talking contemporary guitarists(alive)?
Or the best of the best? We all know the BEST guitarist who could play anything or any type of music....pedals,effects,no-pedals,no effects, acoustic was Jimi Hendrix! (yes...broken record...redundant etc.) But...it is truth and FACT! Duane Allman Peter Green Carlos santana and a guy who could REALLY play.....Terry Kath! |

Terry Kath's death changed Chicago's whole style. Interestingly enough, I've liked the bands music before and after.
Knopfler is an interesting choice. Eric Johnson is dynamite (it's been a looooong time since I heard his music.)
