Punch Margarita 1994
This cigar was given to me by the ever-generous UCMBA, and, lacking time for a bigger cigar, I tried it. I rarely get to smoke a cigar this old, so it was a real treat, particularly because it turned out to be so good.
These are small, thin sticks, 4.75" X 26, but this one, with a colorado wrapper, packed a lot of punch (pardon the expression). Even at the advanced age of 9 it had plenty of guts, melded with a wonderful mellow toasted-tobacco flavor. (I did not detect the "woody" flavor mentioned by Nee). I was surprised at the volume of smoke this puppy generated per puff--as much as a petit corona. Heeding the advice of MRN, I smoked it slowly, and it lasted for about 35 minutes. A perfect burn, a perfect draw, and I was perfectly satisifed at the end, as if I had smoked a TPC or even a PC. I gather from MRN's book that these are still in production. I don't know the price, but this one, with some age on it, was a wonderful smoke. Rating (for a small vitola) 9/10 on the dipterometer. |
