"Lusi, I'm home!"
Holy cow! 'Tis quite a big stick! Although there have been a lot of posts on Lusitanias, I just had a fresh one and - WOW! [AIS July '04]
Perfect construction; firm with just the right amount of give; pre-light draw was easy without being loose (how did they roll such a large stick so well?) Never had to relight or touch-up. From a construction perspective it was as good as it gets. Flavors were consistent, woodsy, a little nutty and a bit on pepper towards the end. Not as strong nor complex as you might have expected with such youth, but delicious nonetheless. Quite nice mixed with the aroma of pumpkin pies baking in the kitchen. In a smaller smoke I would have judged it as a bit mild, but for a nearly two-hour smoke it was just right. Naturally, put to bed for a while would bring out a range of more discernable individual flavors. Still, with a box of '98 put away, I'll continue to enjoy these over the next few years. Two for the '04s! |
