You'd be surprised. I see Spanish cedar being used in all kinds of applications. Deck railings, shutters, window treatments, anything that is exposed to weather extremes or at least a lot of moisture since it is much more plentiful than Redwood, more durable, and very resistant to rot.

It's actually a lot easier to buy Spanish cedar at 4x4 (1" thick) or more than it is to buy it in thinner pieces.
