Lennon was the lyricist. McCartney had the ear for a good pop hook. The sum total of the two of them was greater than either of them by themselves, IMHO.

Possibly, though I liked most of their solo stuff as well.
Paul has just lost his voice and the lyrics are old man oiss poor. Kinda sad.
